Hi Karen, I was watching CNBC the morning of 10/25/99 and they had updates on the F16s nearly simultaneously with their intercept of Stewart's plane. The coverage was remarkable, in that I thought the scrambling of the military jets was much quicker and more aggressive than I would have expected. The exact opposite was the case on 9/11, when the military response to hijacked airliners simply never seemed to happen. Hopefully this new firestorm of inquiry zeal as reported today by CNN will start to uncover some of the truth about what the air defense forces were up to. Hopefully they aren't going to tell us the pilots were at Krispy Kreme for crullers. -R.
