That's an excellent historical perspective, but it doesn't move us any more forward from the present position.

If the matter can't be resolved here, I hope you will acknowledge that I tried, on the very terms that you suggested, and that you won't be coming back in the future to say "well, if in May you had agreed to a to-or-about this could all have been resolved, but it's too late for that now."
