Ted, <My point was that terrorism was something more than simply the act of targeting civilians.>

I don't think Tim was arguing this, either, or else something got lost in the communication (as I just demonstrated recently).

Anyway, my definition of terrorism is the death and destruction of civilians and civilian works (i.e. of no military value) for the purposes of demoralization. Under that definition, you can classify a lot of actions in history as terrorism, including actions taken by colonial Americans. So what? I'm sure you can also classify actions taken by the British army as terrorism. War is war, and from that point-of-view, terrorism is nothing more than war by other means.

Of course, I doubt you're willing to take that point-of-view. I sure don't want to. But I can't see why you continually bring up the American Revolution in these arguments, unless you really think terrorism is just war by other means.
