FREMONT, Calif.--Asyst Technologies Inc. today reported a 96% sequential surge in bookings to $51.5 million in the company's fiscal fourth quarter, ended March 31, compared to $26.3 million in the prior three-month period.

The supplier of fab automation systems and cleanroom minienvironments said its sales sequentially increased 3% to $38.4 million in the last quarter from $37.3 million in the prior three-month period. Asyst's net loss, including one-time items, was $13.2 million in the fiscal fourth quarter vs. a net loss of $89.8 million in the prior quarter, ended Dec. 31.

"We are pleased to report sequential sales growth and strong sequential bookings growth after four consecutive quarters of declines due to the industry downturn," said Mihir Parikh, chairman and CEO of Asyst. "Although the recovery is only a couple of months old, we can see bookings growth across all of our core product lines, both 200-mm and 300-mm, and across a broad customer base."
