In general I am against protecting commercial concerns. But certain technology is key to defense. So that is one reason. But in a short term it also may be that a country is attempting to destroy or take over an industry. It is a difficult call in all cases. It is a very complex decision. ENE went bankrupt because of a crisis of liquidity caused by fud. ENE I believe had enough resources to survive if given the money to span their problems. Protection can be a lifeboat that gives an industry the time *(liquidity) to reorganize to a different form of competition. Or it can be a crutch that forever weakens the company or industry. It's all in the details. But private individuals should be taking this into account in running their business. But some times a tital wave occurs. So a life boat is required of compassionate men.
