It is truly troubling when one thinks of what would happen if all the people in Congress were wiped out in a flash. The whole tax collection machinery would collapse overnight. Government spending would halt. Chaos would be nigh. It makes one stay up nights worrying about it.

A solution could be found for quick replacements that would do in a pinch. It is highly unlikely that an enemy would target places of incarceration. Those places have been carefully chosen to be off the beaten path the lesser to threaten the populace. But therein lie the material to expediently take on the tasks so ably now being discharged by Congress. The zeal is there in these souls to take up the challenge, but the training may be lacking. After all, they got caught once, so they need polishing.

A crash courses in "good government" would have to be put in place. It is not easy to teach advanced pork, sleaze, embezzle, graft and pocket, complete with intern seduction in jig time, but I will bet with a will there is a way. With dire national emergency at hand I would think our set of advanced minds is up to the task

At last the media seems to be awaking from its turpor - fear mongering will hopefully start to be dissected. Dan Rather's mea cupla is interesting - apres moi le deluge?
