There was a lot of poetic license in that summary.

of course your summary pretty much sucks...much like your voting record.

BTW, is Dianne Feinstein a Democrat??

Good summary. Or Junior "misremembered" the events.

He's comfortable talking to schoolkids. Here's what else he said:

"I wasn't sure what to think at first. You know, I grew up in a period of time where the idea of America being under attack never entered my mind -- just like your Daddy's and Mother's mind probably. And I started thinking hard in that very brief period of time about what it meant to be under attack. I knew that when I got all of the facts that we were under attack, there would be hell to pay for attacking America. (Applause.)"

So, he's "thinking hard". And he knew when he "got all of the facts"... I.e., when Pop's crowd filled him in.

"And so, I got on the phone from Air Force One, asking to find out the facts. ... But I knew I needed to act."

What gave you that idea? Actually, George, you're saying this to "sound Presidential", but you sound like a frat boy pretending he did his homework.

"I knew that if the nation's under attack, the role of the Commander-In-Chief is to respond forcefully to prevent other attacks from happening. And so, I've talked to the Secretary of Defense; one of the first acts I did was to put our military on alert."

Good boy! Did Rummy tell you to say that?

BTW, this is almost an hour later. Rummy has just declined an offer from the Asst SecDef to go to the NMCC where such incidents are handled, and instead he's on the phone to W make sure he doesn't do anything stupid in public. The only "facts" this pResident is interested in is the script for the day.

Get him in front of a news conference asking what did he know, and when, and he'd be toast.
