Some things are irreducible. I would have suffered as much as has Poet had I been the object of an obsessional, insinuating stalking. Maybe not quite as much. To some degree I get mad where she gets frightened. I would also have been on the phone with his wife a long time ago. But I would surely have lost a lot of sleep and peace of mind over it, and probably been forced to give up the SI community entirely. Though Poet uses it for the stock threads, too, so it would be more difficult for her to do that. You are somehow missing the suffering part. It seems like a kind of tone-deafness or something. It was done on purpose, and wouldn't have been done if CH didn't know that it caused suffering, of course. I don't know why this isn't transparent to you, or why Poet's suffering doesn't weigh with you, or isn't credited. It is real.

The suggestion that the PMs held some rational key to CHs behavior has been long held up as a justification for this mess that none of the rest of us had privy to. I do not believe there is anything in the PMs to suggest anything more about the friendship between CH and Poet than we have seen, as you put it, overtly displayed here. What does that leave us with. That leaves us with a couple of other possibilities. 1) The PMs have nothing at all that we don't see in all the other CH Poet relations postings. Lets dismiss that idea on the grounds that Poet would not initially have had such strong objections to publishing them. 2) They contain comments about other SI posters that Poet made to CH long ago and in confidence. Hmmmm...that is one of the reasons that my PM functionality is blocked. I have a tendency to be much more free and careless with my characterizations of others in a confidential PM whether it is gossip about mutual acquaintences, or out and out flaming; it leaves one with a very uncomfortable feeling to think that the confidence could ever be breached. Poet asked that the names of other SI posters be deleted from these messages when they are published. I'm putting odds that this could be it. 3) There could be some other issues of a personal nature that Poet disclosed to CH in confidence that are sensitive to her; such as family issues, personal health etc. This also has high probability. Attitudes, relations, and issues change over time but for those of us seeing these PMs for the first time it would bite as though the attitudes, relations, and issues are current. Lots of work on fense mending could be ripped apart by the tornado that ensues. Anyway that is what I suppose to be one of Poets fears. If number 2 or number 3 above are any where near the truth, then I can well imagine the emotional stress Poet has been under as a result of CHs suggestions that he might publicise these PMs. The suggestive nature of his comments to us implied an intimacy with Poet, that initially led me and others to believe it was a flirtatious friendship, and that the posts would reveal sexual titilation. Now it appears that it was an attempt at emotional blackmail. But who knows. Anyway I figure this package to be all wrapped up but still looking for the ribbon. I'm outta here, The good cop
