DAK the issue is credibility and it does not matter if it's democratic or republican. As a result of the US success in Afghanistan the US financial markets were not hurt and more so the confidence in the US policy helped boost the USD and the stock market.

Europe now drifting to the far right and rumbling about crossing the budget deficit limits still have the EUR move to an 12 month high (excluding Sept 11-25).
