It's got (apparently), who, what, when, where and no why. Or is it too many whys? 1) Given they were targetting mostly DEA, (apparently), the why might be criminal enterprise. Although what good this information might do a criminal enterprise isn't clear to me. 2) But they also (apparently) targetted defense installations so that would indicate spying of some kind. What does Israel need to know about US military capabilities that it doesn't already know ? Not much, I should think. What Israel wants in terms of US info is the government's intentions towards Israel. I don't think it can get that by looking at military assets. 3) It might want to know what US intelligence is doing with regard to Israel's enemies but it wouldn't seem likely that these young folk would easily get access to that, given what they were ostensibly doing 4) It also needs to know what Israel's enemies are doing in the US. But since these young folk were easily identifiable as Israelis they wouldn't be too useful spying on (eg) Saudis, Syrians or Palestinians at any close distance. 5) It could be seen as perhaps the most unsophisticated part of a larger intelligence study of US security capabilities or, perhaps even one part of a general study of security capabilities of a number of countries. 6) It was part of a training venture also designed to gather some very low level information in connection with 2, 3, 4, or 5. 7) Etc., etc Or they might just have been selling pictures. <g> .Ken's right. There's nothing there. All we can wind up doing is Kremlinology.
