Ish, WOW!! That Panzer must have been one hell of a tractor!!! Can't you just imagine the look on an old German farmer's face if they had delivered one to him, and told him to plow his ground with it???

There was some speculation that the sitting King of England at the time, became a bit of a pro-Hitler type person, and that created some flap among the royals. I can't remember the details, and am too tired to look it up, so bear with me if my recollection is off base.

There were various interesting ways that treaty restrictions were beaten. For example, since they were limited in the number of men at arms allowed them, they accelerated conscription, so that by the end, virtually all able- bodied men had been through basic training. They had a secret deal with the Soviet Union to hide airplane production, if I remember correctly, and other countries served as armories as well (make rifles on the border, ship them to a friendly country). They had what is called a "monopsony" with Romania, that is, they consumed about 80-90% of its oil, so Romania could not afford to get in Germany's bad graces, and cooperated in various schemes. In general, Germany was pretty good at eluding restrictions, until it hardly mattered, since no one would penalize them........
