I just glanced at the Kansas City Star piece on compounding small amounts of money into large amounts.

As someone who has struggled (more than one time) through the book "Inside the Yield Book" by Sidney Homer and Martin Leibowitz (both at Salomon Brothers, when the book was written) ...

I always find it AMAZING how people just rattle off :

"Assume you find an investment that compounds at a rate of 10 percent for 47 years continuously."

If someone understands finance theory, they will realize how ridiculous that is !
