1. ibm, dec and the like had a pretty good run back in the 60' thru 80's.
2. watch out when a software co. tries to become a hardware co. (i.e., msft).

and for g-d sakes, mossberg said that some complicated excel spreadsheets had a hard time in the conversion and that it was difficult to align page numbers. holy shit, the product is a loser; give me a break. most documents that are straigt forward work or excel. anything real complicated probably makes up about 2% of the total files out there. star office 6 is a winner and will only get better.
