Law-breaking by the government has broad consequences. Thorough, public investigation is absolutely required. From "Perpetual War for Perpetual Peace", quoting Justice Brandeis: "Our government is the potent, the omnipresent teacher. For good or ill it teaches the whole people by its example.... Crime is contagious. If the government becomes the law breaker, it breeds contempt for laws; it invites every man to become a law unto himself." To which I would add, it invites every corporation, political council, and military group to be laws unto themselves.
