John: Price war is one thing, product changes is another thing. Blade servers are going to reduce the $ volume of IT expenditures along with thin clients and close to thin client PCs. Outsourcing will start picking up. Outsourcers have no need for multi-application PCs. If the server does all the work and sends you the browser pages, what do you need an application code rich PC anyway? It is time the management rework employees into transaction processors. That is information factories will replace idle workers who think they are given important jobs in corporations.

In the meanwhile op systems will go into embedded transistor chips, creating a huge home improvement and office improvement business. I have a home peer to peer network already giving me a productivity better than many office networked systems.

With all these trends coming, managements have to show me that they want to improve SE. Or else I will stay a short term trader with slow LT accumulation.

For Dell or HPQ or IBM to claim that they will dominate these markets is fool hardy. Show Me (the meat or SE)- will be the sage phrase.
