Interesting post flapjack. Unfortunately, quality isn't always the determining factor in regard to customer acceptance. What companies attempt to do is create "value" for the customer. When thinking of value, it sits in the center of a triangle surrounded on three sides by quality, delivery, and price. Those three elements in most industries bring value to the customer. Creating products which bring value to the customer ensures an organizations long term viability.

I don't know what the reason Stanley had for re-locating offshore. No doubt they are in an extremely competitive industry and are looking for a competitive advantage which would bring value to their customers. Price being the component most likely effected by this move.
