I'm not the total pessimist ... not sure I want to live anywhere else. Don't know that the corruption here is any worse than the corruption somewhere else. Our nation continues to be a place with much freedom -- by the grace of God. Also, I see some folks trying to educate themselves about what really matters ... the difficult times ahead may forge some real leaders after we have hit bottom -- sometime in 2006 or 2007 (that's enough to get me banned from here -- thinking we could put in a bottom so soon <vbg>). At some pt the SOXX (not allowing for the silly rotation game they play with all the indices now -- aren't these rotations getting more frequent, or am I slowing down??) will trade below 100. The valuations right now are wonder-full.
