i guess many only look at the absolute numbers of VIX. that is not the right way to use it. i think using either a regression channel or a bollinger band is more appropriate.

VXN seems work at the bottom, i.e. when it hits 50 the bottom is very very close. but not very well at the top. that is how i observe.
