so many SI male aliases come across as tough-as-nails, take-no-prisoners, swaggering
tough guys. You don't even have to spend a dime on a cape.


That's something I should have picked up on, but didn't specifically. Though I'm not sure it's only guys who do that. Some of the attitudes and language I see women coming forward with is stuff they would never say in real life, even if they claim they are only playing or bantering.

Interesting, though, that in almost all cases I'm aware of the persona here seems to be more vulgar and crude, not sweeter and kinder, than the real person behind the persona. Is it the case that people are really nice in large part because of the reactions of their friends around them, not because that's who they really are, and when they get here where they don't have to face people in person, they can be their much less nice real selves? There are a few exceptions here, but not many.
