Russia was a heck of a speculative play in 1998 and those folks that invested have done very well. Agree with you that now is not the time to chase this one.

I also sold my JOF - paying a premium is not my style either.

Right now I do not have anything on my radar screen except for Ireland. Sorry I do not have the URL, but Ireland is expected to be the fastest growth country in the EU. It is also expected to have a slightly higher inflation than other countries. Last time I looked the CEF was trading at a very nice discount.

ild, <<Do you know anyone who liked Russia back then?>> Marc Faber, shortly after the 1998 Financial Storm-lette, liked some clove cigarette company Indonesia and Russian oil/gas. He at the time said something about Lukoil had 100x Exxon's reserve and was at 2% of its mkt cap. These were not the numbers but that was my impression:0)
