Analysts have begun speculating that Adelphia would be forced to sell assets.

On May 8, Adelphia authorized its financial advisers to entertain offers for some systems, including Los Angeles, which has 1.2 million subscriptions, Florida, with its 750,000 subscriptions, Virginia, which has 575,000 and Southeast, another 225,000. But, Reif Cohen points out, the process may be postponed or canceled if Adelphia files for bankruptcy.

Prospective buyers would proceed with caution if Adelphia declared bankruptcy. Adelphia has already suspended auditors' continuing audit.
