re: you purchased AMAT during latest bottom in the 20's. Why?

Because I know that all my guessing and following trends and looking at charts and calculating valuations, etc., etc., is going to get me in the ballpark vicinity, at best. Yes, I thought AMAT should have bottomed at a lower price, and I was wrong. But I got a lot of shares (not as many as I would have been willing to buy) anyway. Buying in increments, within a wide range, makes my buying (and selling) methods more idiot-proof.

The other reason for buying AMAT and others in late September to early October 2001, is that I saw the Nas making an elegant double bottom with the 10/98 low, and I thought we were seeing an episode of panic selling that wouldn't last. So I took what the market was willing to give me.
