re: Kathleen Hayes. Let's face it folks, they got rid of her because she didn't fit the CNBS image, i.e., she just wernt purty enuff. No, let's make that two reasons. Kathleen was given the axe [1] because she ain't pretty enough; and, [2] because she kept annoying the viewing audience by actually providing some quantum of financial analysis.

Two kinds of people watch CNBS, IMHO. First there are folks like us, i.e., people who know at least enough about the markets to have realized long ago that we aren't going to get any real investing information from TV. (Yeah, yeah, they can theoretically give out the Michigan numbers a few seconds earlier than we can get them off Business Wire, but so what?) Second, there are newbies and casual "investors" who think that watching a "business" channel puts them "in the know."

I don't know about the rest of you, but I hardly ever even turn the sound on when I'm "watching" CNBS in the morning. It's just there so I have something pretty to look at while my computer reboots after Fidelity's poorly written Java crashes it. (Please don't label me as sexist. I believe in every woman's equal right to be a horny pig, and I firmly believe that female viewership would go up if they'd get rid of that hog, Cramer.)

As for the unitiated, they just want to feel good while they're being fed their pablum, and the kids on CNBS perform that task quite well.

JMHO,
