Nemer, "I didn't do nearly as well as did you." As MB also said, he spoke about the luck element in racing. Well, I think this also extends to the betting process. I got lucky in winning the exacta by making the right decision when it came time to bet and having WE win. The decision-making process is always a tough hurdle for me to surmount. One would hope for a certain constancy from day to day, and even from race to race. But in my case it just isn't so. For example, I considered the problem of whether or not to make a win bet on Magic Weisner, my third/fourth ranked horse. Especially so at the odds. And I spent more time considering a place bet on him, going to the trouble of figuring what he'd pay on the place end. Most days I would have put money on the place end. So I made a bad decision in not doing so Saturday. But I got lucky by averting disaster when he came up slightly short at the wire. Had a horse I had in my top 3-4 won at 45-1 without my having a ticket on him would have traumitized me. -ng/g- I consider myself very lucky that he didn't win.

Am I ready for the Belmont? Nope. As I mentioned to mcr, I didn't like the way a bunch of them were getting to War Emblem near the wire, unlike his previous races. The question in my mind is if he's reached the peak of his form cycle. If that turns out to be the case then we'll once again have boxcar payoffs in the exotics. Right now I suspect that I'll be playing for that possibility. R
