I like the new Corvette (but my old time favorite is the 56 & 57 ). The Phat look I believe is the result of some wind-tunnel work to make it more aerodynamic. It does look a little more European than its earlier brothers. [btw... I read the other day that with the new computers, you do not need a wind tunnel anymore, as you can create such environment with software...]

I have driven one Corvette (back in the 70's) along a Firebird and a Mustang Boss... the main complaint I have always had about the American great cars is that there was far too much power for the suspension available. (at the time). BMW, Porsche (and other European cars --even with less HP have been historically better equipped to handle corners smoother. I remember, I drove a restored Firebird and the power was simply not smooth at all as you exited corners. Ah that brings me again thinking about the Trans Am days.... They must have done a lot to modify those suspension... but even then... that was the reason why it was so much fun to drive those cars in a racing environment, you did not have to worry about hitting wheel to wheel when you had all those fenders to bump the other driver around -ggg-

I wonder if this is the effect of having (primarily) oval racing so predominant... yes, I know... NASCAR and their BRUTE RAW power -gg-

Since then, I have not driven the new Corvette, and I understand that it handles a lot better... perhaps I should go test it. [I am sure if I show up with you know what, they will let me drive anything I want -GG-]

As for the price... it is a good value, no question about it... it has to do with the fact that the car is made here AND more importantly, the quantity sold... Unfortunately it lacks the .... hard to describe.. "mystique" perhaps ? of others... (including the famous 56 & 57 Corvettes)
