Thanks for the fast response.
This is a 233 Pentium-1 (MMX). The floppy drive was the original one. It showed the error and I removed it for a new one in it's place. The light is on momentarily at startup and then off til a request is sent to it. The light then comes on as I described. I turned the cable over on the new floppy drive and the light stayed on and system showed a floppy failure on startup. I put the cable in properly and checked the "seating" and restarted the PC. This is a consistent problem now. I plan to try another cable this evening. If this doesn't work - would this be a possible board or processor problem?
I appreciate your inputs!
