It's curious that Velikovsky's publishers were threatened with a boycott by the academic community unless they ceased publishing his works. I don't remember the publisher, but they published a lot of textbooks, so the boycott would have hurt them. The threat worked, they quit publishing him.

Pretty heavy handed treatment for someone who was a "harmless quack."
