re: I believe that Israel must shoulder some of the blame.
blame for what? For existence? If Israel can be blamed for anything it would be for not using it's military power enough

Ted, <By your definition of terrorism, that would have made the US terrorists.>

You are free to split hairs over definitions. Just remember that the terrorists use the exact same play on words to justify their evil acts.

I, on the other hand, would prefer not to assign the same label to an action which brought about the end of imperialist Japan. Not only that, but it also brought about the end of the horrors and the atrocities committed under the Japanese banner. That is far more deserving of the label "terrorism" than America's dropping of the bomb.

Of course, the bomb was a horrifying end to a horrifying war. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict isn't at that level yet, but I know who wants to bring it to that level. And it isn't Sharon, believe it or not, unless you think Sharon can't possibly be any harsher in his actions. (Nor is it Arafat, either.)

Not that I think the actions of either Sharon or Arafat are leading to peace. But that's a different story.
