Other members of the thread will give you sites to deal with the add pop up problem but here is one that works quite well. I know that others will be posted because this problem was dealt with here a couple of months ago and a number of sites were mentioned. Good luck.

i use the noads program that doug just linked for you. it's better than average, does a good job, imo. what keeps it from being excellent is that some ads still get through. there is the ability to add them to them as targets for future exclusion, but that's still lots of work.

back on the symantec kick.... i wanted to share a link that advises norton internet security users (or norton personal firewall, same firewall) how to configure their firewall to block pop ups.

dslreports.com

scroll about halfway down to where you see this text...

"Here we show our readers the settings of Norton Internet Security that can prevent those tiresome pop-up browser windows that show up when you are surfing, and which you must always click on individually to remove. The Norton window in the screen shot below is found under "Options" – "Advanced Options..." – "Web" tab – "Active Content" sub-tab; in the "Script" list, select the option, "Block script popups only". If the brief animation in the screen shot does not run, please click on the "update" ("Refresh"/"Reload") button on your browser:"

i just saw this configuration tip last night, and i immediately set it to block the ads. so far today, not a single pop up has slipped through.

good luck

:)

I use a program called PopUp Killer. Works very well. I have been using ZoneAlarm Pro to kill ads but went back to ZA free. I was having problems with several sites which I visit regularly and problems with my roadrunner connection. Uninstalling ZA Pro seems to have cleared up all my computer woes.
