Yesterday, when I was taking a rest at the side of Doe Lake while hiking in Frontenac Park, there were dozens of swallows skimming just above the water while hunting insects. It was a fantastic sight as they were soaring and swooping in every direction.

I spent today out hiking on the forest trails at the Mill of Kintail up in the Ottawa Valley. Another super day. Lots of Beech and massive White Pine up there. The Indian River runs through the middle of it and it was flowing quickly with many beautiful rapids and riffles. Saw a huge colony of Marsh Marigolds... perhaps 50 feet in diameter in a boggy area next to the river at some rapids.

Hoping to go out with the canoe somewhere if it's a nice day tomorrow. This time of year, I hate to miss a day out on the river.
