Private Capital Management/Gregg Powers

For those who have been around since the early days (pre 1999), this will be interesting.

A search of the SEC filings indicates that this group acquired about 1.7 million QCOM shares in the first quarter, bringing their total to about 4.4 million shares. At an assumed average cost of $40, they spent $70 million. This is the first significant purchase by them in several years, since they sold most of their holdings in late 1999/early 2000. They are considered value investors.
