I know what you are saying is true when I see 2.0 GHz Athlon CPU + Mobo for about $250 and still don't think the upgrade is worth the hassle. The one tech product I want to buy is a DVD recorder so I can crush my VCR. But like a good deflationist, I'm waiting for the price to drop another 40%. <g>
