Slate presents a preposterous shaggy dog tale, IMO.

Saletan is remarkably naive. He doesn't seem to know about the U.S. Navy's remarkable network of 1,500 or so undersea microphones that would alert the Navy to the presence of the Tamil submarine hundreds of miles from Baltimore. BTW, have you looked at a map to see just how far up Chesapeake Bay Baltimore lies?

That was one of the silliest articles I've read recently.
