Hearing from traders, citing Reuters, that QCOM is comfortable with 2002 guidance and indicating that S. Korea is not as bad as expected.




16:21 ET VC Visteon raises guidance (15.72 -0.02)
Announces that they expect Q2 net income of $60-$70 mln and 2002 net income of $25-$75 mln, vs former guidance of $20-$40 mln for Q2 and breakeven to $50 mln for 2002.




16:19 ET CHRT Chartered Semi raises revenue guidance (23.10 -0.74)
The semiconductor foundry now expects Q2 revenues to grow approx 40% sequentially, compared to previous guidance of 25% growth. Puts its loss for the qtr at $0.76-$0.77 vs prior guidance of a $0.82-$0.84 loss (Multex consensus -$0.86).

16:12 ET LDG Longs Drug beats by a penny, issues guidance (32.09 +0.09) -- Update --
Reports Q1 pro forma EPS of $0.29, $0.01 better than the Multex consensus; revs were $1.09 bln and same store sales grew 4.3% (there is no consensus rev est). Expects Q2 rev to grow 4-6%, same store sales to grow 3-5%, and EPS of $0.27-$0.31 (consensus is $0.32) and expects 2003 revs to grow 2-4% and EPS of $1.25-$1.35 (consensus $1.28).




16:08 ET GME Gamestop exceeds consensus, raises guidance (21.38 +0.15)
Posts Q1 pro forma net of $0.09 a share, $0.04 better than the Multex consensus, vs a yr-ago loss of $0.03. Sales rose 34.8% to $271.4 mln vs consensus of $256.63 mln. For Q2, co sees EPS of $0.06 to $0.07 (consensus $0.05), with comps increasing 15%. GME maintains guidance for Q3 and Q4.





14:43 ET RBAK Redback Networks: Juniper-Unisphere should not be a negative-- Thomas Weisel (2.33 -0.33)
Thomas Weisel believes that JNPR's Unisphere acquisition does not change the competitive landscape significantly for RBAK; purchase directly positions JNPR against RBAK on the SMS product front, but RBOC's have traditionally been strong RBAK customers, while JNPR does not have a large footprint among them; also, a JNPR-Unisphere combo takes out a competitor for RBAK in the edge router biz.


11:46 ET HPQ Hewlett-Packard resumes repurchase program (19.47 -0.21)
Announces that it has resumed its normal stock repurchase activities. HPQ has authorization to repurchase approx $1.4 bln. The buyback programs had been suspended while the merger with Compaq Computer was completed.

10:30 ET ZRAN Zoran should not be affected by Mediatek cancellations (37.78 -1.42)
Hearing that Taiwanese co Mediatek may be seeing cancellations in DVD chipsets in China; however, this problem seems to be specific to Mediatek and should not be an issue for ZRAN, which appears to be down in sympathy.


11:20 ET FCS Fairchild Semi revs tracking at high-end; files for 20 mln stk offering (28.43 -1.32)
Reports that Q2 orders have been stronger than expected and that revenues are tracking toward the high end of the company's original guidance of 3-5% sequential growth. Separately, FCS announces a 20 mln stock offering; FCS plans to sell 13 mln shares and a selling stockholder will offer 7 mln.

09:05 ET NSM National Semi boosts revenue growth forecast (33.28)
Co now expects Q4 revenues to improve 12-13% sequentially vs guidance at the beginning of the qtr of 6-9% growth. The current Multex consensus estimate shows that analysts were expecting 7.8% growth. "Overall orders and turns bookings both came in at a better rate than we had originally projected, as we continue to make good progress in our key target segments such as wireless handsets and displays." NSM also seeing improving demand for analog products.

07:23 ET LTD Limited posts makes qtr; reiterates Q2 guidance (22.25)
Reports Q1 earnings of $0.10 per share, in line with the Multex consensus. Adjusted EPS for the qtr was $0.15. Revenues rose 7.3% to $2.03 bln vs the $1.98 bln consensus. LTD remains comfortable with Q2 consensus of $0.08 per share.

07:12 ET CHRS Charming Shoppes beats qtr, raises guidance; also files for $130 mln convert (8.30)
Posts Q1 net of $0.14 a share, $0.05 better than the Multex consensus, vs yr-ago EPS of $0.08. Sales rose 60% to $630.62 mln (consensus $630.6 mln). For Q2, co sees EPS of $0.17-$0.19 (consensus $0.16); puts FY03 earnings at $0.41-$0.43 (consensus $0.37). Separately, co announces a $130 mln convertible offering.

07:06 ET LOW Lowe's beats by 22%; guides higher (44.76)
Posts Q1 net of $0.44 a share, $0.08 better than the Multex consensus, vs yr-ago EPS of $0.29. Sales rose 22.6% to $6.47 bln (consensus $6.34 bln). For Q2, co sees EPS of $0.53-$0.54 (consensus $0.51). Puts full yr EPS of $1.66-$1.69 (consensus $1.60).
