Well...I'm not very pumped about the idea myself but there is great theory from both a historical and current POV. On the historical side the case is being made that with the advent of antibiotics and the way we live, we have wiped out both good and bad bacteria. As a result (between processed foods, water additives etc.) the body doesn't take in the same amount of bacteria and parasites that it did while we evolved over millions of years. This creates some issues with the immune system (Since its focus has been dramatically changed over the past 100 years with purified everything) where it actually now wipes out good bacteria but in doing so also kills certain organs with "friendly fire." By placing something real in the colon for the immune system to work on it takes on the new enemy instead of your tissue.
