Arun,

Yes. The caste system is a problem. See how you classify all the brahmins into the vermin class! Similar language used for a jewish person would classify you as anti-semetic.

Have you ever wondered that if 95 percent of Brahmins are educated, they are more likely to be in jobs that require education?

My point is about Brahminism and not against Brahmins. The context was Caste system in India. Calling those who want to maintain status quo as vermins is no different than calling a fellow Indian human being as untouchables (or Dalits). I also mentioned that there good Brahmins who educated and broad minded enough to see beyond those evils. This proportion is high when you consider Brahmins who settled in countries like USA. It is not only Brahmins who maintain satus quo in India,
there are other forward caste fellows who practise Brahminism and pretend to be Brahmins. In my opinion all of them Vermins.

> And Tamilnadu has tried anti-brahminism as a state policy. A disproportionate number of seats in colleges are reserved for non-brahmins. Does that make Tamilnadu any better off than other states in India? Are all ills solved in Tamilnadu? As you said: Brahminism in India is the root cause of almost all of the ills in India.

Ragarding preferantial quota system In Tamil Nadu, it is not an anti-bramin system per se. It is giving quota to non-forward caste people. In TN Brahmins population is about 5% and there are other forward caste people who are much higher percentage in population in TN than Brahminis who also suffered. With this quota system in TN for the past 30+ years, you will see lot of other caste fellows are getting educated and getting Government jobs etc. Personally I don't like quote system as it is implemented. But it is one of the sensible ways in whch government is trying to open opportunity for those untouchables. Without proper opportunity for education, they will never see the light at the end of the tunnel. Castism in TN has changed considerably in some parts and not much in other parts. Over all it is an encouragingly mixed result so far. You cannot eradicate this 1000+ years of evil in one generation. It may take couple more generations to see considerable progress. But you have to start somewhere and education is the best avenue.
