I don't know what the answer is- but as you said, baseball has alot more competition for the younger generation's attention these days. That's one reason you see more and more foreign players now. Not as many distractions in other places.

It will probably work itself out- if the government lets it. You know MLB is treated 'special' by congress. They have a very rare anti-trust exemption for one. The gov't would no doubt rescue the sport if necessary. In the end- profit sharing and salary caps may have to be implemented.

Agree on the ladies fast pitch softball. They really do throw the heat- and when it's comin' from only 40-45 ft. away, it gets there in a hurry. It may make sense to move the mound back a few feet to get more offense involved. Makes for better fan involvement.
