Andreas, Re: "Unless Thoroughbred shows up on Pricewatch on volume (i.e. at least two pages) we can't speak of a "real" launch opposed to a paper launch IMO."

It doesn't even need the pricewatch listing, as long as it can ship volumes to a major MNC like HPQ. That's what The Inquirer suggests will be the gate to a volume launch, and I agree. AMD should be putting more stress on the appearance of a reliable source, and they won't do that as long as they value the channel more than the OEMs.

I suppose a real launch is in the eyes of the beholder.

When I read Mike's HPQ launch story I assumed that we would see Best Buy, Comp USA, Circuit City presence in large volume. I assume a lot is going on behind the scenes wrt product placement and positioning a future hammer rollout. I assume that we will see fire sale pricing on pally on pricewatch and negligible tbreds until the pallys are gone.

BTW - I also assume the yield problem is really a soft demand problem and that "yields" will not improve until the pallys are gone.

I assume a lot, but if the rollout from HPQ is anything but deep and wide, then I assume I'm wrong.
