I just purchased a new motherboard to hopefully solve my remaining compatibility problems with WinXP. It is an ASUS TUSL2-C. ASUS is the Cadillac of the Intel chipset boards, except for Intel of course, in terms of rock solid stability, compatibility, and decent performance.

VIA = an edge in performance with allot of headaches. Good for gamers who like to mess with their computer system. VIA is very slow to get motherboard drivers out that actually work.

Intel = "almost" headache free with rock solid stability. Good for business systems that do not require attention after the initial installation.
