Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty on Terror Alert

I don't know why terrorists would bother with those landmarks. Sure it would be an embarrassing slap in the face, but I'm not certain that would be the route they would follow.

I think those targets provide a more difficult task for them. Instead I would think they'd opt to hit the busiest business districts in the big cities.
They could possibly target, the diamond district, or garment district. That would hurt the city's economy and in addition it would target a large Jewish population.
They could also hit the financial districts again.

Blowing up the Statue of Liberty would only serve a symbolic gesture that would not physically hurt as many people.

The Brooklyn Bridge would not hurt the city as much as hitting the George Washington Bridge or one of the tunnels.

Part of me wants to question the intent of these warnings coming from Washington.
Are these targets publicized to gather support and rally patriotism?

I do think the threats are real, but I wonder why we haven't heard as much about threats that would harm our economy more.

Maybe I'm reading into to this too much...
