JW, I here you on not missing the big up days. That is esentially my plan except I have decided I will sell enough of a position after a significant gain to recover the cost of my remaining shares and essentially play with the houses money.
Keep me updated on your microcaps. I have built a core position in some of the bigger name golds like DROOY, HGMCY and NEM. They should provide steady price increases and nice dividends. I am searching for potential homeruns. Currently reading about KGC and Seabridge.
As for your earlier question regarding government actions in the event of rising gold and a falling dollar, I am not sure. I do not think the government will confiscate gold. I think that would expose our currency for the trash it is and cause money to flee the US economy. The only way I see gold confiscation occurring is if we experience another 9/11 type event. The government could then use such an event as an excuse to replenish its supplies and somehow paint its action as patriotic and good for this country. Of course we know what would happen to the POG if gold were to be confiscated.
I think a windfall tax on gold is possible. I think the government could paint gold as unamerican and a tool used by the "evildoers" to hurt this country, which would be solved by a windfall tax. Can't you just see politicians explaining how gold is evil and unamerican. Of course anyone with half a brain would know this is bullshit, but then most of this country are sheep and would probably agree with the action.
We are living in scary times. Someone else said that this country was ready for its next big time period (or maybe time capsule as V man would say)in history. It began 9/11 (well not really, it began in late 99 with the hyperprinting by Uncle Al). I do not know where it will end.

what are some of the worthwhile pm small caps and microcap. can you throw some names out of the ones you are willing to put $$ in.

I think CDE for silver and TVX for gold are still a good play from today prices.
