Yeah, that's why I almost never call anyone a "liar", but I might call a statement a lie.

That's because there is no clear test for determining how many lies someone must tell in their life to deserve the label "liar" (though, obviously, some deserve the label).

Nearly everyone on the planet has told at least one 'little white lie' sometime in their life... so if one lie were the test, than the term "liar" would lose all strength and predictive ability - an outcome I wouldn't wish to see.
