Thanks for the sympathy.

I just look at it as, if Intel does well, the stock could double. If AMD does well, the stock could go up 10 X.

I also like what AMD has done for my procurement costs at work - for both AMD and Intel systems (though, from an investment standpoint, I suppose that's terrible news).

I also really believe that AMD has done a better job of estimating where the market will be over the next few years, and targeting the right products for that market. AMD seems to be expecting a smaller share of market demand to be for expensive parts, and I think that AMD is right that 64-bits will be able to demand a better retail price than 25% higher clock. We'll see how it all works out. Maybe motorola will perfect that GaAs on Si process and we'll all be buying PowerPC chips next year.
