Are you sure Quicken is not paying any royalties to Microsoft for using their platform

depends on what the definition of "sure" is. i've never heard of app developers having to pay MSFT for the privilege of creating apps that run on Windows. given the oodles of Windows applications, don't you think we'd have heard about it by now? OTOH, i myself have never developed and marketed a Windows-based app, so i can't be "sure" there is not some secret royalty cabal that's milking the apps.

personally i always thought MSFT made its Windows money from its Windows OS group and its own Windows applications.
