I didn't say that it was the entire Muslim population.
It is a relatively small, active group. However, it does allow for a level of profiling.
I was a supporter of racial profiling in NJ. Even black officers that were polled in NJ approved of the profiling because, while it is true some innocent people were pulled over, it was an effective tool for catching criminals.

I know it's not PC, and I'll catch alot of flak from people who are die hard libs, but the fact remains that if you were to ask a black cabbie in NY (and this has been done time and again) if he profiles, he says yes.

I don't think profiling is an indictment of a population. It's a simple fact that there are certain types of people engaging in certain types of behaviors. From time to time they are ethnically/demographically related.

This doesn't mean the population, as a whole, is to be held accountable. It just helps in engaging in the prevention of crime.
The fact that I've been pulled out of lines at airports 4 times THIS YEAR doesn't bother me. It's a pain, but I understand it. It does help me understand, as well, that I need to play a role in stopping this...somehow. I don't look at my searches as being a trampling of my rights. I got profiled (I hadn't paid with a credit card/I was carrying alot of bags for a single person). I just wasn't profiled ethnically.
I don't see the differentiation.

Here's a link for some info:
it isn't the one I referred to earlier. A very large number of these groups are Arab/Islamic. If not a majority, a plurality.
