EK, I don't think they're out of the woods, but, as the Journal reported today, the brokerage firms have been winning most of these individual suits. The Emails would seem to me not to play that well before a jury of people with room temperature or higher IQs, so they may be in specific trouble. For the rest of the firms, they don't really have anything incriminating like that. If the lawyers can make stupid and greedy=payoffs, they'll do o.k. But that is much tougher without a smoking gun.

New York's pension fund has been well-managed. Where they've had problems in the past is with the State trying to dip in when the State is having difficulties. I think it is on firmer ground nowadays.
