While most seem to be focused on the idea that a real IT bottom will not be found until vix/sentiment and volume confirm real fear and bearish sentiment, I am wondering if we may not see that at all. I think that the relatively large daily percentage moves that we are all accustomed to seeing have ingrained in us an the notion that a bottom can only be made if a violent/fearful low occurs.

What about a basing type bottom? One in which there is no spike in vix but instead where vix just stays in a range, say in the low to mid 20s, and the S&P moves in a 40-50 point range for a period on time. Of course, this could occur prior to a violent, fearful/vix spike bottom also<g-ng>

I am just toying with other ideas as most people seem convinced that we will not have a solid IT low unless we see vix at 40+.
