It's all too easy to smuggle weapons into this country. In spite of their best efforts, the Coast Guard can do only so much. In LA Harbor alone, over 2 million containers come in every week. The CG can only inspect maybe 1% of those. They simply don't have the manpower. Since 9/11, LA Harbor has only 1 small CG boat to patrol one of the biggest harbors in the world. They moved all the cutters down to San Diego.

Will there be a major terrorist incident in the United States between now and July 4? OMD No Gloop Yes - I think we'll see suicide bombers. Major no longer matters - 1 lost life will be a major problem for any of several countries around the globe. Worse yet I don't think its out of the question that a nuke could be fired between now and July.
