Unfortunately, its almost impossible to learn except from your own mistakes. Its what you do after you make the mistakes that matters. I think if you talk to any successful person you will be talking to someone who has made more mistakes than most, failure is a very big part of success. I know very few rich people who haven't lost a great deal of money at some conjuncture. The people who really understand capital preservation are usually those people who have lost it all a few times. Unfortunately most give up after the first.
