Just to be sure I understand what you are saying, you think the president would LIKE to see a suicide bomber in Times Square? From the shrill tone coming out of Cheney/Rice et al, it sure seems like they'll pull some "Saturday Night Massacre" in order to justify their existence and create a distraction. A suicide bomber on Times Square ought to do quite nicely to unite the nation, cowering behind our leader....

Timing is everything, they think! That's transaction-based logic... It only works if you go on to the next transaction, and hope for amnesia for the last one, with only residues of fear and obedience. Perhaps we are moving past that, with acceleration of the internet's community phenomenon, into more substance, and killing of subversive secrets. (... Even in spite of bilious volcanoes, who are, after all, are part of the community !) If so, there could be a reckoning before another major disaster. If not, it'll be after. There's a lot of reckoning to do ... Let's hope not too much damage occurs first
